A Letter from Meredith Pontzer

Redeemer Presbyterian Church (EPC) has received the following letter from our member, Meredith Pontzer. The Board of Directors wishes the congregation to take note of this mission opportunity for Meredith, so that we can pray for her and offer her our financial support:

 Dear Members of Redeemer,

As many of you know, a few weeks ago I announced in church that I have accepted the call to work this summer for the organization A Christian Ministry in the National Parks (ACMNP). I will be working at Mt. Pisgah Campground, part of the Blue Ridge Parkway operated by the National Park Service. This is a new adventure for me and I couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity to be part of a Christian worship team and spread His Word.

I am writing to ask for any kind of support you can give to help make this move and adventure easier. Naturally, prayers are welcome at all times. However, there are some associated costs, as well, for which I need your help.

Orientation is being held at Rocky Mountain National Park in Denver, Colorado, and I need to fly there for the weekend of April 21st through 23rd. I also have had to pay a minimal registration fee for this training event.

Once I am settled in the Mt. Pisgah Campground this summer, I will have a job through connections provided by ACMNP. This job will cover my living expenses. Anything God prompts you to give will be helpful and I will certainly receive your gifts with thanksgiving.

Thanks and love,

Meredith Pontzer

P.S. I will let you know my new address for letters and prayers of encouragement!

You may read more information about A Christian Ministry in the National Parks, its history, its mission, and its organization, by clicking here.

If you wish to help fund Meredith’s summer mission opportunity, please make your checks payable to “Redeemer Presbyterian Church” and write in the Memo Line of your check: “Meredith Pontzer Summer Mission.”

And please keep Meredith in your prayers, as she embarks on this exciting opportunity.

This is a very significant event in the life and development of our church. Our Leadership would like as many of Redeemer’s members and friends as possible to attend this meeting.

Please mark these dates on your calendar.

Adult Christian Education Welcomes YOU!

We extend this personal invitation for you to join us on Sunday mornings at 9:30 in the Joyce Parlor, located just off the foyer in the Educational Building.

Do you find it hard to understand what the cross of Christ has to do with the reality of your life in the 21st century? Have you ever wondered why Christians concentrate so much on a gruesome, first-century instrument of public torture?

[Photo of Stott's The Cross of Christ] For our adult Christian Education (Sunday School) study during Lent, Bob LeSuer will moderate as we look at some answers to these and other questions as we explore “The Good News of the Cross.” Using a portion of John Stott’s The Cross of Christ as a resource, we will examine how, in Christ’s work on the cross, our gracious and faithful God:
  1. accomplishes our salvation,

  2. reveals who He is, and…

  3. conquers death and the powers of darkness.

All are welcome to join us in the Joyce Parlor each Sunday morning at 9:30 for this important discussion of matters at the very heart of our Christian faith. Coffee is free. And, there are no such things as “dumb questions.”

Please join us. You will find a very warm, welcoming, and inviting atmosphere.

(Please enter the building through the entrance closest to the parking lot
so as to not disturb the 9:00 a.m. Lutheran worship service.)

Prayer Requests

More and more, we want to become a praying church. Thus, we want to continually hold each other up in prayer.

We want to celebrate your joys. We want to rejoice with you concerning the answers you’ve received to your prayers. And, we want to know about your trials, sorrows, difficulties, and concerns so that we can earnestly and fervently pray with you and pray for you.

Tithes, Offerings, and Love Gifts

We appreciate your consistent generosity in giving to support the ministry of our church. Please make your checks payable to “Redeemer Presbyterian Church.” We also have Pledge Cards available for those who may wish to indicate the extent of their giving—as God provides—throughout the coming year.

[Per-Member Giving Graphic]

Annual Per-Member Giving

Each year, the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, in concert with the Presbytery of the Alleghenies, votes to establish a budget for Denominational and Presbytery operations. This budget is largely supported by churches and congregations participating in a special stewardship program called “Per-Member Giving.”

This year the amount includes $23.00 for the General Assembly and $12.50 for the Presbytery of the Alleghenies, or a Total of $35.50.

While Redeemer Presbyterian Church includes this total amount for our membership in our Annual Budget, it is helpful if each member, who is able to do so, will contribute this amount of $35.50, above and beyond whatever amount he or she normally pledges or gives.

If you do include this amount in your giving, please make a notation on the memo line of your check: “Per-Member Giving.”

Thank you for prayerfully considering this request. And, if you have any questions about this, please speak to our Treasurer, Marykay Stahl.

“God Hunt” Sightings

We include this announcement each week to express our sincere hope that you are still going on a daily “God Hunt.” Every day please look for one or more of the following:
  • Any obvious answer to prayer, or...
  • Any special evidence of God’s care, or...
  • Any help to do God’s work in the world, or...
  • Any unusual linkage or timing

Then, please write your “God Hunt Sightings” down in a journal or notebook. Next, as God opens up an opportunity for you to share with someone what He is doing in your life, please take that opportunity to do so.
